About Me

I am making this post in hopes that it plants a seed that may grow, a seed full of love. I believe the secret to life is the way of love, and we need love in everything we do, because without love we have nothing. Whenever I feel annoyed at work, I think to myself: “do this with love, I love what I do, and I can get through this,” and surely enough I get through my day much easier. However, a word of advice: If you don’t actually love your job, don’t lie to yourself, and don’t settle. You have potential to do many things, so get out there and change the world!

I’d like to explain some things before I continue, since you might not know much about me. I was born a Catholic, and I’ve always believed in God. However, I’ve not been as close to my faith as I have been lately. It wasn’t till my uncle regained his faith and he started a Bible study and feeding the homeless. I couldn’t take part at first due to scheduling conflicts, but when I can I attend. I learned that feeding the homeless didn’t conflict with my schedule, so after that I haven’t missed out since I started.

One lucky night I caught a break and attended his Bible study, we actually spent about five hours talking about the Bible and shared spiritual and personal stories amongst one another. I found out a little more about how they give away to the homeless every Saturday, this is where I became part of something I haven’t left to this day.

Every Saturday we feed the homeless as what my uncle calls ‘Crosswalkers’, which is a group of friends and family who feed the homeless. We take donations from our friends and family, and even local businesses, and we go out at night when the homeless are usually either sleeping or about to sleep and we bring them food. We also sing to them, give them a Bible, give them clothes, we give them love, and we try to help them however we can.

I’ve never been bored since. I don’t feel like I’m wasting away anymore, and I actually feel good now. I wish we could get people from other cities and even countries to join, there’s so much people can do. If you’re someone who always thinks about trying to help the poor why not try it for yourself?

I’ve also been reading the Bible more often and noticing some things that people miss out on when they dismiss reading the Bible whether from a religious standpoint or from a secular point, regardless of what you believe in it is agreed amongst plenty of people that the Bible is one of the greatest works of literature, and even if you disagree it is still a work that governs western society, and it has for a long time.

I wrote a similar post to this on my Tumblr, but I’ll still post this here, because I am hoping that someone somewhere reads it and they may get inspired to feed the homeless. If you want to create change where you live but haven’t done anything, all you have to do is try! You’ll be surprised how many people are willing to support selfless acts when you walk the walk, or in our case when you ‘Crosswalk’.

Psst! Go out and change the world,

The Crosswalker

13 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.

3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

8-10 Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

11 When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

12 We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

13 But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.
